Privacy Policy

Overview

Wai Shabbat is designed with your privacy as a core principle. The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer or any third parties.

No Data Collection

• We do not collect any personal information.
• We do not use analytics or crash reporting services.
• We do not use advertising frameworks.
• We do not use third-party SDKs that collect data.
• There is no account, login, or registration of any kind.

Location Data

Wai Shabbat uses your device's location to determine the correct Shabbat candle lighting and havdalah times for your area. Your raw coordinates are never sent to any server. The app resolves your location to a GeoNames city ID on-device and sends only that city ID to the Hebcal API.

• Raw GPS coordinates never leave your device.
• Only a city identifier is sent to Hebcal for zmanim calculation.
• No location history is stored or logged.
• You can revoke location access at any time in Settings.

External Services

The app communicates with two external APIs to provide its functionality. No personal data, device identifiers, or location coordinates are included in these requests.

• Hebcal.com — receives a GeoNames city ID to return Shabbat times (candle lighting, havdalah). No personal data is sent.
• Sefaria.org — receives a Torah portion reference to return the weekly parashah text. No personal data is sent.

Local Data Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device:

• Your alarm settings (times, sounds, enabled state).
• Your selected location for zmanim calculation.
• Cached Shabbat times and parashah text.

This data is stored using UserDefaults and never leaves your device.

No Tracking

Wai Shabbat does not track your activity or behavior in any way. There are no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party tracking SDKs.

Children's Privacy

Wai Shabbat does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not collect information from any user.

Data Deletion

To remove all Wai Shabbat data, simply delete the app from your device. All locally stored data (alarm settings, cached times, preferences) will be removed.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. As the app collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
